Specialty Services
Overview
Although chemical dependency as a whole has many similarities, many of our patients need specialty programs to deal with the complexities of today’s rapidly changing environment.

Our specialty services are designed to augment the 12-step process of recovery and ensure a more successful treatment outcome. These services include: opiate, pregnant female and dual diagnosis.

Opiate Program
Over the last several years, opiate and prescription drug addiction have become an epidemic in the United States. Unfortunately the rate of recidivism among this population is extremely high. In order to ensure a more successful treatment outcome BGB has created a comprehensive treatment milieu that deals specifically with withdrawal symptoms, psychological and sociological aspects and lifestyle issues associated with opiate and narcotic addiction.

BGB utilizes state-of-the-art pharmacological interventions to mitigate the withdrawal symptoms. Detox protocols include: methadone-to-abstinence, bupronorphene, methadone maintenance. During the rehab phase our counselors utilize individual treatment plans, specialty groups, lectures, psychiatric evaluation and the 12 Steps to deal with the psychological, environmental, lifestyle and spiritual issues attributed to this deadly disease.

Pregnant Female Program
BGB holds the distinction of being one of the a few non-hospital inpatient facilities to treat opiate dependent pregnant females. Patients can stay for the duration of their pregnancy and give birth at a local hospital.

Prior to admission medical records must be received by our admission’s department along with a fetal viability study. Opiate dependent pregnant females will be maintained on methadone during their stay at BGB. Short-term patients must live within 25 miles of a methadone program to qualify for admission. In addition to our overall chemical dependency and psychiatric treatment services, patients receive parenting classes, nutrition education and support and weekly check-ups. BGB uses a network of postpartum care providers for discharge planning.

Dual Diagnosis (MISA) Program
Dual Diagnosis short-BGB recognizes that many of our patients suffer from a variety of psychiatric and psychological problems as well as chemical dependency. BGB is one of the few licensed dual diagnosis in the state of Pennsylvania. Our dual program offers a unique and comprehensive approach in the treatment of chemical dependency and psychiatric disorders.

BGB’s dual diagnosis program includes: mental health groups and lectures, psychiatric assessment and evaluation, medication management and double trouble meetings. Our multi-disciplinary treatment team, consisting of master’s level counselors, is headed by a Board Certified Psychiatrist who specializes in addiction. BGB prides itself on being able to successfully treat the more complicated dual patient.
