In order to provide the most focused care to individuals who have been struggling with chemical dependency, at Bowling Green Brandywine, we are proud to provide the three specialty programs that are described below.
These programs complement and augment our traditional residential services, and provide participants with the additional care that they need to have a more successful treatment experience and to achieve long-term recovery.
At Bowling Green Brandywine, we recognize that many of our patients suffer from a variety of psychiatric and psychological problems in addition to chemical dependency. Bowling Green Brandywine is one of the few addiction treatment programs in the state of Pennsylvania that is licensed to treat individuals who are also experiencing co-occurring mental health disorders.
Our co-occurring program offers a unique and comprehensive approach in the treatment of chemical dependency and psychiatric disorders. Program features include a thorough psychiatric assessment, mental health groups and lectures, medication management, and special “double trouble” meetings. Care in the co-occurring program is provided a multi-disciplinary treatment team that is led by a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in addiction.
Treatment for Pregnant Women
Pregnant women ages 18 and above who are struggling with chemical dependency can receive specialized care that is designed to provide a safe and comfortable detox experience and promote successful recovery in a manner that protects the health of both the woman and her unborn child.
In addition to engaging in traditional residential programming, pregnant women who heal at Bowling Green Brandywine also participate in weekly meetings with a nutritionist, attend regular OB/GYN appointments as frequently as needed, and have an extra hour of rest built into their daily treatment schedule. The pregnancy program also features thorough discharge planning to ensure that mother and child have access to community-based support services following the completion of treatment.
Opiate Addiction Treatment Program
Adult men and women who have become dependent upon heroin, prescription painkillers, and other opiates can benefit from our opiate program, which features both medically monitored detoxification and medication assisted treatment to help individuals end their dependence upon these dangerous substances and make the lifestyle changes that will support long-term recovery.
The opiate addiction treatment program employs a variety of effective educational and therapeutic interventions, including classes on the nature of addiction and individual, group, and family therapy sessions. In addition, participants are prescribed Vivitrol, an extended-release prescription medication that allows them to stop taking opiates without experiencing the powerful cravings or other distressing symptoms of withdrawal.
