Julia DiMatteo, LMSW

Clinical Supervisor

“Healing doesn’t mean the damage never existed. It means the Damage no longer controls our lives.” Akshay Dubey.  Julie began her career in the mental health and substance abuse field 23 years ago. She graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Millersville University and with her Master’s Degree from Capella University in Human Behavior. She is licensed as a LMSW and is in process of her CTTP (Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist-Trauma & Addiction). Her experience includes Case Management, Group and Individual Therapy (Grief and loss, Trauma Informed Care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing), Medical Necessity, Program Management, Supervision of Clinical Staff, and Quality Management and Improvement of Clinical Documentation and Service Delivery. Her experience also includes working in inpatient and outpatient treatment with adults and children with mental health and substance abuse disorders. Her main expertise is Trauma treatment. Her approach to treatment involves addressing experiences that have prevented personal growth due to the experience of trauma. Her perspective of treating those with a Substance Abuse Disorder who have experienced trauma roots in the belief that recovery is possible by therapeutic interventions to help patients identify their goals, identify trauma responses, provide support while working thru trigger issues, teach how to build trust and relationships, and help patients identify coping skills to address these trauma responses. When specifically working with those who have a Co-occurring disorder, the approach is to both treat and address Mental Health and Substance Abuse Disorder by providing therapeutic interventions to address and treat symptoms and educate on relationship to that exists between both diagnoses to help individuals live in Recovery.
